WE ARE ON A MISSION
The mission of Animal Folks is to protect animals and fight animal cruelty by creating a modern system of animal law enforcement in Minnesota.

SEEKING JUSTICE THROUGH SYSTEM REFORM
Animal Folks is a nonprofit organization working to improve animal protection efforts in Minnesota. We are focused on system reform —
building the partnerships, structures, and processes necessary to ensure that animal anti-cruelty laws are effectively enforced. Our goal is justice.
Our positioning is public safety. Our approach is through systems-thinking.
OUR PROGRAMS
Our mission is organized into five program areas listed below, all guided by systems-thinking.
-
1
Animal Cruelty Research
We conduct extensive research on animal cruelty cases in Minnesota, and collect data associated with animal cruelty issues. -
2
Animal Law Resources
We develop training, policies, procedures, and resources for use by authorities in the investigation and enforcement of animal law. -
3
Criminal & Civil Justice
We file civil and criminal (cruelty) complaints, and build relationships with local and state authorities throughout Minnesota. -
4
Legislative Action
We write and support state and local legislation that provide humane treatment of animals. Includes lobbying and advocacy. -
5
Outreach & Education
We provide information and education about animal law and animal cruelty through websites, literature, and booths at events.
“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or an animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
